Burns & McDonnell Scoping Team – Transmission Line Designer (Multiple Locations) in Atlanta, Georgia

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Transmission Line engineers in our Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Chattanooga, TN; Aiken, SC; or Nashville, TN office locations. The transmission line engineers will report directly to the Transmission line scoping lead on a large capital investment program with a major Southeast utility. Other key responsibilities will include:
Responsible for scoping out Transmission line projects.
Collaborate with other discipline leads to successfully scope all transmission line work related to Transmission and Distribution projects.
Interface and work with the client’s project management leadership team to provide regular, timely updates and suggest scope options for the client’s approval.
Collaborate with project team to successfully mitigate issues and achieve seamless execution.
Support estimating and material forecasting efforts.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field and seven years related experience or associate's degree and eight years related experience or nine years progressive detailing and design experience.
Expert understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables.
Expert knowledge in design, calculations and design systems.
Expert knowledge in the theory and practices of civil discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
