As the Design Section Manager, you will work directly with the Department Manager to lead a multidisciplinary design section serving public and private clients on a variety of Transportation infrastructure projects. Projects range from City/County arterial widenings and innovative intersections to billion-dollar multi-level urban freeway designs. In this role you will have the opportunity to:

Collaborate with fellow section managers, Design Department Manager, and project managers to align staffing strategies that achieve cost-effective delivery, optimize staff billability goals, and align project staffing needs for projects.

Define project objectives, cultivate standards, and organize projects in a way that transforms designs into masterpieces.
Attend and lead project meetings for clients, leaving a mark that resonates innovation and professionalism.
Infuse your team with administrative, supervisory, and technical expertise to drive success.
Champion excellence by overseeing quality reviews on design deliverables.
Build our business through actively engaging in proposal efforts for select clients and projects. Correspond and meet with clients, contractors, and vendors.
Support brand-building that empowers your team to connect with industry peers and potential clients through technical events and organizations.
Monitor progress on design projects and offer your insights to fine-tune strategies, budgets, schedules, and quality benchmarks.
Serve as a task lead and/or project manager for our most important clients and projects.
Support and provide your team with career development opportunities.
Cultivate a dynamic team by recruiting, nurturing, training, retaining, and recognizing top-tier talent.
Inspire and guide summer interns, offering them career growth and an exceptional learning experience.
Solicit feedback from team members, compile insightful observations, and make recommendations for performance evaluations in collaboration with Design Department Manager.
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in engineering, architecture, construction or related degree from accredited program
Minimum of five (5) years related professional experience in design (conceptual or detailed) and/or project management required.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in transportation design strongly preferred.
Experience related to project scope definition, scoping studies, plan development, and cost of estimating of roadway related projects strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Microstation, GeoPak, Inroads and OpenRoads Designer and possess detailed knowledge of AASHTO and DOT design criteria and standards strongly preferred.
Previous leadership and/or project and people management experience is preferable.
Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.
Must be expert in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
A professional engineer license is strongly preferred.
Position requires up to 25% travel.
