Burns & McDonnell Policy Strategist - Transportation (Texas) in Austin, Texas
The Assistant Transportation Policy Strategist will support Planning and Policy staff on a wide variety of communication and public outreach services for our clients. This includes developing and implementing programmatic and project communication strategies and public outreach plans to make our clients successful.
Assists with developing and implementing policy communications and public engagement plans for clients.
Assist with development of policy documents for clients.
Develop and organize project assets and graphics.
Includes video production and website design
Develop content for social media posts, newsletters, fact sheets, website content, news releases, public meetings materials, mailing lists, and response to public inquiries.
Assist with materials development, event logistics, attending and participating in public meetings, logging inquiries, and data management.
Participate in proposal development and project presentations.
Provide graphic support for promotional initiatives and award submittals.
Assist in organizing and managing project information files and coordinating the interchange of project outreach information to project managers and clients.
Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
All other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, graphic design or a related field from an accredited program required. A minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
A minimum of 0 to 3 years professional experience preferred.
Completion of a master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
Prior internship or related experience a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Design/presentation software (Adobe Creative Suite) experience required.
Graphic and website design experience preferred.
Experience in online community engagement software a plus.
High level of attention to detail. Proofreading experience strongly preferred.
