Burns & McDonnell is actively recruiting Senior Architects to help shape our Mission Critical / Commercial / Higher Ed Studio in our well established Austin office. This position offers unique opportunities for both personal and professional growth by offering a wide-range of project responsibilities and team leadership roles. Senior Architects with a desire to lead a multidisciplinary team which includes in-house engineers, scientists and builders are encouraged to apply!

Responsibilities:

  • Provide project team leadership and coordination for finished plans, specification, and material selections; ensure design intent is incorporated into the construction documentation.

  • Mentor and lead teams in the production of accurate technical and contract documentation for project construction.

  • Mentor and lead construction administration duties including; bid review and support, site visits, address technical issues, and improve quality during construction.

  • Work with government and regulatory agencies to achieve overall project schedule and objectives.

  • Manage, mentor and recruit talent including resources to produce 3D software renderings and critical presentations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Architecture degree from an accredited program is required.

  • 8 years of architectural experience, consulting preferred.

  • Registered Architect preferred.

  • Expert knowledge in standard architectural techniques and procedures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Expert computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)

  • Expert computer skills (e.g. BIM (Revit), Adobe Suites, and 3D rendering programs).

  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.

  • Expert attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with leading the design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.

  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed architectural documents and specifications.

  • Ability to travel.
