Burns & McDonnell is looking for a Project Manager in the Environmental Services Global Practice (division) in our Charlotte, NC, office (could also sit in our Atlanta office) to lead environmental studies projects for a variety of industry types including transportation, renewable energy, electrical utility, and others. Burns & McDonnell is seeking a motivated self-starter to help grow our Environmental Services practice. The successful candidate will be a seller-doer with demonstrated experience developing and supporting multiple projects from a natural resources and environmental permitting perspective as well as managing and completing independent projects. These activities may include proposal development, marketing, developing permitting strategies and schedules, providing technical experience in the development of NEPA documents, negotiating with regulatory agencies, managing subcontractors, contracts, schedules and budgets.

This individual will enhance our existing environmental studies presence in the region working closely with established clients across multiple markets. Additionally, the ideal candidate will help expand our environmental studies services and client base in the region.
The Project Manager will work within an integrated team within our Environmental Studies group in the Environmental Services Global Practice (division) to perform the following duties:
Performing project management responsibilities for environmental studies and permitting projects.
Act as a technical resource for NEPA documentation and environmental permitting
Client and business development and networking
Assisting with and leading proposal and cost estimating efforts for environmental studies and permitting projects.
Regularly interface with various agencies, clients and team members
Mentoring and generally working closely with junior level environmental staff
Assist with recruiting, development, and training of staff.

Bachelor's degree in a natural resources or environmental permitting discipline from accredited program. Minimum 7 years related professional experience (10 years preferred) in natural resources and/or environmental permitting project execution including leading teams in the field or office, coordinating staff, and/or project management. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients. Candidates must possess strong project execution and as well as a strategic perspective.
Minimum of 7 years (10 years preferred) of experience with siting/critical issues studies, environmental permitting, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents, or Energy Facility Siting and Licensing and associated support.
Experience with project management, environmental regulation and agency coordination (USFWS, state agencies, etc) is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information and work effectively with various audiences (including public officials, agency representatives, property owners, businesses, clients, construction contractors, etc).
Demonstrated knowledge of environmental site assessment methods, permitting process, and construction compliance.
Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
Ability to travel up to 25%, as required.
