Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Owner’s Engineer (OE) Manager in our Chicago office. The OE Manager will report directly to the Program Manager and will manage the day-to-day activities of various engineering teams on a large capital investment program across the country. Other key responsibilities will include:
Responsible for representing Owner on all engineering and technical matters pertinent to the scope of program.
Responsible for working with Owner stakeholders, design staff, and subject matter experts to develop full understanding of client design practices, standards, and specifications.
Develop program specific standards, specifications, and design criteria documents for use by design-builders.
Develop new or revise existing engineering process flows and for design-build contractors to follow to effectively execute goals of program.
Manage workload of individual OE discipline leads which includes:
Issuing technical guidance to design builders on behalf of Owner.
Responding to requests for information from design builders on behalf of Owner.
Monitoring design builders’ adherence to Owner/Program standards, specifications, and best practices via QA reviews.
Preparation of scoping packages for all Transmission / Substation projects.
Collaborate with managers of functional areas within program team to ensure alignment on program direction and processes.
Interface and work with client’s project management leadership team to provide regular, timely updates.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Minimum seven (7) years of substation, transmission line or network design experience. Master of Science degree in electrical engineering may be substituted for one (1) year experience.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a dynamic, quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
Professional Engineering License required
Ability to communicate issues and identify solutions.
Engage in professional interactions with clients or outside personnel and develop relationships with key individuals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
