Burns & McDonnell Senior Resident Representative - Water (Denver) in Denver, Colorado
Description
This position will be responsible for the construction oversight of major water/wastewater construction projects, including reviewing, recording, coordinating, and verifying that products, installations, schedules, applications, and work provided by the Contractor all verify to the engineering drawings and specifications. This position regularly communicates with the Engineer, Contractor, Owner, and other parties having jurisdiction (agencies, permitting authorities, etc.) to coordinate the Contractors schedule, progress, work, and requests. Travel will be 80-100% at construction project sites.
Projects will generally focus on water transmission and sanitary sewer collection pipelines, water/wastewater treatment plants, storage tanks, and pumping stations. Experience with municipal water and/or wastewater pipelines and facilities is highly encouraged.
Specific areas of responsibility include the following, with other duties as assigned by management:
Verify that installations are in conformance with the contract documents. This includes observations of the materials, work in progress, and finished installations
Help resolve design and construction conflicts that are found to exist through execution of the workDocument in writing important conditions experienced at the job site. This includes writing daily journals providing information relating to weather, job conditions, contractor’s forces, safety issues/concerns, installations that took place, tests run or required, and placement of photographs documenting the progress
Take frequent and regular photographs helping do document the work as it progresses.
Serve as a liaison using regular communications with Owner, Engineer, Contractor, and other stakeholders to improve project communication, clarifications, and transparency
Review delivered materials and verify conformance with approved shop drawings and submittals.Calculate and/or verify installed quantities and support contractor's applications for partial payment.
Establish and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients.
Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline from an accredited program.
Years of experience can be substituted for degree requirement.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred. PE license preferred.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience required.
10 years of Water industry construction inspection and management experience preferred.
Broad exposure and experience communicating with Engineers, Owners, and Contractors including coordination and communication with regulatory agencies.
Position requires excellent communications and supervisory skills.
Knowledge of water and/or wastewater infrastructure which includes: water transmission mains, wastewater collection systems, water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, water storage tanks, and related projects.
Must have ability to deal effectively with Contractor, Sub-Contractor, Testing Lab and various other on-site personnel.
Experience working with on-site client and jurisdictional agency personnel is preferred.
Experience in document control software.
Experience as the lead Inspector on at least one project with a construction value of over $20M also a plus.
This position requires an individual capable of managing multiple inspectors and testing agencies, in addition to coordinating with Construction Management.
Must be willing to work majority of the time in the field.
Experience in web-based project management systems preferred.
Valid driver's license required.
In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
Compensation Range
$105,000 - $150,000
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
