Burns & McDonnell Engineering Manager - Onsite Energy & Power (Fort Worth) in Fort Worth, Texas
The Engineering Manager is responsible for the managerial direction and leadership of the engineering departments (Civil, Development, Mechanical, Process, Electrical, I&C and Structural) in the Global Practice.
Manage development and execution of the overall Global Practice engineering strategic business initiatives to achieve goals and objectives.
Provide direction and oversight of Global Practice engineering efforts in identification and vetting of prospective clients and projects. Responsible for business development activities aligning with business goals.
Provide leadership to the Engineering teams; direct and coordinate efforts to ensure efficient and cost-effective utilization of staff.
Recommend changes in the department’s structure and organization to achieve the objectives assigned to them.
Oversee the development of department tools and work flows to increase efficiency in designs, specification development, and project execution.
Establish and review budgets and schedules for engineering portions of proposals.
Direct oversight and management of the engineering budget and expenditure of funds.
Achieve stated targets and standards for Global Practice engineering financial performance.
Provide industry expertise with respect to the competition.
Present monthly financial information to leadership including schedules and budget forecasts.
Approve strategies for cross-selling engineering services across the organization.
Provide guidance to relative to set-up and structure of staffing and execution approach on projects and the associated interface with other disciplines.
Support department managers to establish, monitor, and recording historical metrics for earned value measurements and for project budget developments.
Responsible for ensuring alignment and support of Regional Office staff development, quality control and resource coordination.
Recruits, hires, develops, and retains outstanding employee-owners.
Responsible for conducting performance evaluation for selected department or direct reports.
Responsible for interpreting policies, purposes and goals of the organization to Department Managers.
Adheres and responsible for Burns & McDonnell Quality Control program.
Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
Responsible for diversity initiatives.
All other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in engineering required. Advanced business or engineering management degree preferred. Professional Engineer license preferred.
Minimum 12 years professional engineering experience in specific industry; previous consulting engineering department management experience required.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
Demonstrated ability to devise new approaches to problems encountered.
Demonstrated ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
Strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.
Superior technical writing abilities.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and adhere to schedules and meet key deadlines.
