Leads the training needs analysis and designs, implements, and evaluates craft training programs and competency framework. Collaborate with multiple disciplines leaders to enhance employee skills, performance, productivity, and quality of work.

Job Duties:

  • Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance and mentoring to Training Department

  • Lead the design, development, implementation, and control of craft training and competency programs

  • Conduct safety training and project training needs analysis, develop and implement key craft training performance matrices, forecast and develop training plans

  • Identify gaps in training content and materials and research enhancements to generate higher productivity and safety among craft employees

  • Create curriculum to facilitate leadership and development training

  • Conduct competency and proficiency assessment of craft employees and design training plans to address the identified gaps

  • Conduct project jobsite visit to engage the field craft employees in craft training programs

  • Monitors compliance to internal and regulatory training requirements

  • Ensure appropriate training facilities, equipment, materials, and records are available and maintained

  • Responsible for budgeting and spending in accordance with Training Departments annual budget

  • Identify LMS and/or software required to implement training, create training manuals, and develop program training materials

  • Evaluates external training vendors, when required

  • Maintain good standing with NCCER accreditation

  • Manage T&D apprenticeship program

  • Engage in established partnerships with CMEF, EHCMA, PetroChem Works, HASC, NCCER, HBR, Economic Alliance, GHP and the local community colleges

  • Support BMcD HR team and Craft HR team with onboarding employees

  • Support published corporate policies and holds department accountable to follow policies and best practices

  • Identify and prepare Burns & McDonnell Constructors competitors in the yearly ABC National Craft Championship


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required

  • Preferred, not required: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • 10-15 years of related industry experience required

  • NCCER Master Trainer Certification required

  • OSHA knowledge required (Certifications Preferred)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint


Work Locations could include office-based or construction jobsites ranging from commercial to heavy industrial environments that include working in adverse climates, and extensive walking, requiring stairs, passenger use of personal hoists, negotiation work areas under construction, climbing permanent and temporary ladders, occasional lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to sit, talk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and bend. Specific vision abilities required for this job includes close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear and perceive the nature of sounds by ear.

Must be able to safely operate motor vehicles.

May at times need to access confined spaces or work locations at elevation requiring utilizing respirators, self-contained breathing apparatus, and/or fall protection.

Projects require occasional long hours and infrequent days off, occasional night shifts, or moderate to long periods of working consecutive nights.
