Burns & McDonnell Senior Piping Designer - Oil, Gas & Chemical (Houston) in Houston, Texas

Description

We are seeking to hire a Senior Piping Designer for our Oil, Gas & Chemical Global practice in our Houston, TX regional office.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and leads work activities for a team of 3D piping designers (3 to 10 /-, permanent and contract employees) on piping design projects.

  • Plans and manages project workload for piping design staff.

  • Prepares original scope manhour estimates, estimates manhours for scope changes, builds and maintains integrated project schedules.

  • Will be held accountable for meeting project schedules and budgets.

  • Selects, recommends, and prepares preliminary layout of equipment and piping design.

  • Will lead 3D model reviews with internal and external customers. Will coordinate work share with other engineering offices globally.

  • Work with Piping Engineer to define piping specifications, pipe stress resolutions and applicable piping specialty items.

  • Supervise a full range of drawing production work including problem analysis, design layout and required calculations.

  • Work with other project discipline leads locally and globally to meet schedules, budgets while managing project changes.

  • Manage other Lead Piping Designer duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field and thirteen years related experience or associate's degree and fourteen years related experience or fifteen years progressive detailing and design experience. Minimum 3 plus years as lead piping designer on 3D design projects / - 40 Mil TIC, preferred.

  • Minimum 3 plus years’ experience with global workshare projects. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • Maintain CAD proficiency and master current industry CAD systems being utilized.

  • Effective use of multiple application packages where necessary including advanced level commands.

  • Shows understanding of advanced applications development and use.

  • Field experience is preferred to support revamp projects.
