Burns & McDonnell Senior Piping Engineer - Oil, Gas & Chemical (Houston) in Houston, Texas

The Burns & McDonnell Houston, TX regional office is seeking to hire a Senior Piping Engineer to join the Oil, Gas & Chemical Global Practice!

  • Check or supervise pipe stress engineering, design engineering and analysis for complex units. Is expected to assist in the design of larger and more complex units with minimal supervision.

  • Develop and issue line list and specialty items list. Knowledge of speciality item design, piping line class specifications, procurement, technical evaluation of valves, piping and fittings, pipe supports and review piping line class specifications.

  • Complete pipe stress analysis using Caesar II and pipe support design.

  • Coordinate with and direct other team members pipe stress engineers, line list specialists and piping specialty items specialists.

  • Manage job cost accounting, manpower planning, estimating, and change notice submittals, scheduling and progressing workload, budgeting, and reporting.

  • Act as liaison with the other departments; specifically Piping Design, Structural, Control Systems, Process Engineering.

  • Review and prepare bid tabulations on quotations received.

  • Assist Piping Design group in resolving routine layout and detailing problems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.

  • Or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering a plus.

  • 7 years piping engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred.

  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Operates well in a multi-company team environment, Exhibits leadership traits and abilities.

  • PE registration desired

  • Proficient in using Caesar II

  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience in engineering and/or construction work process

  • Jobsite experience

  • Keen safety awareness

  • Able to perform job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility
