Description
We are seeking to hire a Staff Mechanical Engineer within our Oil, Gas & Chemical Global Practice in our Houston, TX regional office!
The Staff Mechanical Engineers to support projects in a variety of industry sectors, including the strategic areas of renewable fuels and carbon capture/reduction.
Primary responsibilities include:
Specialize in and perform the mechanical design of equipment such as towers, columns, drums, and vessel internals
Prepare technical bid & purchase documents based on process datasheets, client specifications, and industry codes and standards.
Review vendor equipment bids and prepare technical bid evaluations
Review vendor drawings and other documentation and regularly meet, correspond, and coordinate with equipment vendors.
Interface and coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines to meet project design requirements and effectively manage the internal flow of data and design changes.
Perform inter-discipline document reviews, such as P&IDs
Gain experience through mentoring provided by senior personnel and add responsibilities such as the opportunity to oversee the execution of the above activities performed by less-experienced engineers.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
Or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
3 years of mechanical engineering experience with industrial pressure vessel design and software such as Compress and/or PVElite.
Experience with API tanks (650, 620, 625) is considered a plus.
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is preferred.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
Previous EPC industry consulting experience and/or vessel fabrication, operations or maintenance/reliability experience is considered a plus.
Familiarity with design codes and standards such as ASME, API and PIP.
TWIC eligible strongly preferred.
