Burns & McDonnell Assistant Market Research Analyst - Corporate Marketing (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri


The (Market Insight) Assistant Research Analyst will be responsible for assessing research needs, sourcing and conducting research, providing critical analysis, and presenting findings to the business. This position will be responsible for performing both quantitative and qualitative analysis. The (Market Insight) Assistan Research Analyst will work with large and complex data sets, therefore must have a clear understanding of the full data ecosystem from source to delivery. The Market Insight Research Analyst will work with varied business lines and in support of a broad range of strategies, therefore must be curious-minded and comfortable in seeking verifiable information credible sources and do so abiding by compliance standards.The (Market Insight) Assisant Research Analyst must possess strong communication skills, be highly analytical and possess skills in identifying areas of competitive intelligence.

  • Scope research needs, conduct research and present findings to the marketing and business partners.

  • Prepare research deliverables; reports, studies, statistical analysis, graphs and custom interface.

  • Monitor news/publications/industry trends/competitive landscape for market insight purposes.

  • Competent in data analysis and segmentation.

  • Monitor industry statistics and follow trends in trade literature and other sources.

  • Prepare reports, illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings.

  • Utilize intelligence and software tools to analyze and synthesize complex information.

  • Synthesize research findings into well-written and visually compelling summary reports and presentations.

  • All other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Market Research, Statistics, Engineering, or Construction or related degree from an accredited program.

  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.

  • Involvement on campus or in the community.

  • Basic knowledge of standard business principles and procedures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.

  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite). Excellent skills using Microsoft Office, including pivot tables, complex queries, etc. preferred.

  • Superior organizational, time management and project management skills, and the ability to exercise sound independent judgment  

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills and experience preferred

  • Competent with primary and secondary research preferred

  • Competent with organizing and cataloging research preferred

  • Ability to prioritize and complete a high volume of work, managing multiple projects and coordinating multiple requests to successful completion preferred.

  • Proven ability to take initiative and build strong and productive personal relationships preferred.

  • Excellent creative, analytic and strategic abilities preferred.

  • Understanding of data management and analytical software, such as CRM, SharePoint, PowerBI, etc. preferred
