The Marketing & Public Relations (PR) Business Partner will develop and implement holistic strategies for Burns & McDonnell to build brand awareness and connect marketing to sales. The business partner/strategist will be an integral part of the firm’s internal marketing agency that serves our business groups and regional offices.

Based at our world headquarters in Kansas City, the business partner will work with our Aviation & Federal Group to market the team’s services, projects and thought leaders to position the firm as an industry leader and ultimately win work.

Specific responsibilities include the following, with other duties as assigned:

  • Partner with business unit leaders to develop and execute strategic marketing and public relations plans to generate brand awareness and sales among targeted clients.

  • Develop, lead and implement promotional campaigns.

  • Lead development of all market specific material.

  • Manage all marketing and public relations activities including webinars, conferences, media opportunities and events.

  • Manage content marketing and thought leadership for owned and earned media channels.

  • Serve as project manager on all marketing and public relations activities and deliverables monitoring deadlines, benchmarks and effectiveness of initiatives.

  • Serve as a liaison and collaborator between business units and all department resources and teams, such as sales enablement and digital strategy, market insights and customer experience and creative marketing.

  • Manage, maintain and monitor local leads and client relationship database.

  • Ensure marketing and public relations activities are consistent with brand strategies.

  • Develop trusted relationships with business and trade media contacts making the firm the go-to source for thought leadership in our industry.

  • Manage media relations serving as a key contact for the regional offices.

  • Pro-actively identify opportunities to promote company projects, industry trends, corporate culture and thought leadership (and more) to targeted media outlets.

  • Work with internal clients to research and create content for regional and industry earned media outlets via news releases, bylined articles, blogs, videos and other channels, as needed.

  • Pro-actively identify and manage award opportunities to promote our people and projects.

  • Ensure all internal clients are fully prepared for interviews, speaking opportunities and events by developing briefing documents with background information and talking points.

  • Monitor and measure media coverage, developing client-facing media reports for all projects.

  • Staff and manage interviews and media events.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related degree.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in marketing and/or public relations.

  • Strong writing skills with knowledge of AP style.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience working with professional services industry a plus.

  • Strong media relations experience.

  • Robust collaboration and leadership skills.

  • Ability to develop strategic and innovative marketing and public relations strategies.

  • Ability to build strong relationships and provide excellent client service.

  • A self-starter with strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly present complex information.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Hubspot.

Travel Requirements: Approximately 10%
