The Marketing & Public Relations (PR) Business Partner will develop and implement holistic strategies for Burns & McDonnell to build brand awareness, drive thought leadership and connect marketing to sales. The business partner will be an integral part of the firm’s internal marketing agency that serves our business groups and regional offices. This is an in-office position, located in Kansas City.

Based at our world headquarters in Kansas City, the business partner will work with our rapidly expanding business unit, Global Facilities (GFS). The GFS business partner will work collaboratively to position the team’s services, projects and subject matter experts as industry leaders and help win work. With a focus on the manufacturing and commercial sectors, the GFS service areas include:

  • Aerospace & Industrial

  • Life Science & Technology

  • Food & Beverage

  • Consumer Products

  • Commercial Architecture

  • Mission Critical

  • OnSite Energy & Power

Specific responsibilities include the following, with other duties as assigned:

  • Partner with GFS leaders to develop and execute strategic marketing and public relationship plans to generate brand awareness and sales among targeted clients.

  • Develop, lead and implement holistic promotional campaigns that include paid, owned, earned and shared media.

  • Coordinate with the GFS pursuits team to develop a tradeshow strategy and approach that maximizes the client experience while maintaining consistent corporate brand messaging.

  • Serve as project manager on all marketing and public relations activities and deliverables monitoring deadlines, benchmarks and effectiveness of initiatives.

  • Serve as a liaison and collaborator between GFS and the corporate marketing team.

  • Manage media relations serving as the contact for GFS.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to promote GFS projects, industry trends, corporate culture, thought leadership (and more) to targeted audiences.

  • Work with GFS to research and create content for targeted media outlets via news releases, bylined articles, blogs, videos and other channels, as needed.

  • Proactively identify and manage award opportunities with targeted media outlets to promote GFS people and projects.

  • Prepare GFS for media interviews, speaking opportunities and events by developing briefing documents with background information and talking points.

  • Staff and manage interviews and media events.

  • All other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or related field.

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in marketing, business development, or sales with a professional services firm.

  • Strong writing skills with knowledge of AP style, preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects/initiatives in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.

  • Problem solving, strategic thinking/planning and organizational skills required.

  • Experience working with professional services industry is a plus.

  • Strong media relations experience preferred.

  • Robust collaboration and leadership skills. preferred

  • Ability to develop strategic and innovative marketing and public relations strategies preferred.

  • Ability to build strong relationships and provide excellent client service preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly present complex information preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Proficiency in CRM and Hubspot, preferred.

  • Design/presentation software experience required.
