Description

The Organizational Development Manager plans, designs, and delivers high-quality talent and organizational development programs that align with company values and support business goals. This position collaborates with business and HR leadership to assess needs, identify root causes, create and implement scalable solutions that promote growth, skills enhancement, engagement and career development for employees at all levels of the organization. The Organizational Development Manager will leverage technology, internal and external resources and industry best practices to maximize adoption and drive success of talent development programs. The manager acts as liaison and advisor to the organization’s leadership to identify talent development needs, goals and strategy across the organization. This is an onsite position located at our World Headquarters in Kansas City, MO.

  • Develop, implement and utilize data driven assessment tools to evaluate the needs of the organization, identify gaps in current state versus business goals and measure the effectiveness of talent development programs.

  • Create and implement talent development programs that drive efficiency and productivity by equipping employees with the required skills to enhance performance, succeed in evolving markets and prepare them for career progression.

  • Create structure and alignment across new and existing talent development programs. Remove, revise and add to existing programs to ensure connectivity and alignment with talent development strategy and business goals.

  • Foster an environment of continuous learning and improvement, motivate and empower employees, and have a positive impact on culture, performance and business results.

  • Partner with internal communications to develop communication strategies that increase adoption of talent development programs and create awareness of purpose and business goals.

  • Align and integrate onboarding programs with overall development strategy.

  • Create and implement leadership development programs that align with company values and leadership competencies in support of succession planning and business goals.

  • Partner with the organization’s leadership and human resources business partners to assess and identify high-potential employees at all levels of the organization. Make recommendations for program participant selections based upon established criteria and in support of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

  • Develop, implement and maintain company-wide career path program. Collaborate with organization’s leadership and HR business partners to ensure alignment in job architecture, job descriptions and career path program objectives.

  • Lead training team and other project team members to create and implement all program components, execute assessments, administer and maintain programs.

  • Maintain knowledge of training & development best practices and apply them to internal programs as appropriate. Actively participate in professional organizations.

  • Utilize current and new technology in support of training and development programs. Provide troubleshooting assistance to others as needed. Work with subject matter experts to ensure technology use is maximized.

  • Create and maintain process documentation.

  • Compile and organize data and information in response to internal and external requests.

  • Provide input into the annual business plan by establishing goals and objectives, prioritizing needs, estimating cost and schedule of programs, and identifying resources needed to achieve business goals.

  • Ensure that project/department milestones and goals are met on time and within budget.

  • Utilize third party suppliers, consultants and providers to supplement internal resources in achieving goals. Prepare and present recommendations and findings as necessary.

  • Work with internal stakeholders and support services teams to review service contracts. Review and approve related supplier invoices.

  • Partner with corporate events team and on-site points of contact to ensure all development program events are conducted successfully and in line with company guidelines.

  • Develop and maintain relationships, strong communication, and client service among employees, managers and leaders throughout the organization.

  • Recruit, hire, train, develop and retain high-performing staff.

  • Evaluate performance and provide guidance and coaching to direct reports.

  • Interpret policies, purpose and goals of the organization and department for direct reports.

  • Motivate and engage team by creating and maintaining an inclusive, great place to work environment for all.

  • Assign work and manage workload of team. Improve work processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of team.

  • Demonstrate support and adherence to company mission, vision and values including the MacCulture Principles, safety program and diversity, equity and inclusion program.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field; an emphasis in Human Resources or Organizational Development is preferred.

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive human resources experience is required. Must include at least 7 years of experience in talent and/or organizational development.

  • Must have previous experience managing direct reports.

  • Demonstrated ability to create talent development strategy aligned to vision and goals of the organization.

  • Must have experience creating and implementing multi-layer, competency-based employee and leadership development programs in support of succession planning and career paths.

  • Experience developing and implementing career paths required.

  • Previous experience creating talent development programs and career paths in the A/E/C industry or a technical and/or professional services organization preferred.

  • Must have experience creating and implementing assessments, analyzing results and making strategy recommendations based on business goals and assessment results.

  • Experience utilizing third-party suppliers for supplemental resources preferred.

  • Proficient in training delivery methods, programs and electronic learning management system.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and analytical/problem-solving skills.

  • Strong ability to influence others and manage change.

  • Experience forecasting cost and schedule required.

  • Project management experience preferred.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and reprioritize as needed.

  • Must have the ability to clearly and effectively present information to all levels of employees, management, and external suppliers.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization and time management skills

  • Ability to multi-task and handle interruptions within a fast-paced environment

  • Strong research skills, including compiling and presenting results

  • Must be professional, self-starter and willing to be flexible

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
