Burns & McDonnell Project Accountant - Corporate Accounting & Finance (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

The Assistant Project Accountant position will assist with all aspects of project accounting for assigned contracts, which includes project set-up and maintenance, understanding contractual billing requirements, invoicing, and collections. This position will serve as a resource for questions and problem solving issues from the Project Accounting team.

  • Assist with checking vendor and subcontractor invoices for compliance with purchase order and subcontract agreement.

  • Assist with verification of receipt of materials and equipment or other deliverables with project field staff and/or project management.

  • Coordinate approval of vendor/subcontract invoices.

  • Assit with initiation and revision of purchase orders.

  • Assit with preparing and verifying client invoices.

  • Assist with identifying and implement process improvemetns.

  • Assist with compiling Ad hoc reports.

  • Assist with compiling monthly project billing reports.

  • Cooridnate with collecting, inputting and organizing file data from various sources to fulfill the contractual needs of the project.

  • Assist with verifying subcontractor pay estimates and maintain a tracking spreadsheet.

  • Assist with coding and processing invoices for accounts payable and maintain Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to track reoccurring invoices.

  • Assist with integrity of contract database.

  • Assist with project close-out tasks.

  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university.

  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret contracts.

  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Previous Oracle experience preferred.

  • Self-starter, proficient in time management to handle deadline pressure and multiple assignments simultaneously.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Physical:

  • Sitting, Standing, Walking, Talking, Hearing, Grasping, Fine Manipulation, Lifting up to 20 lbs, typing, pinching, picking with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm, substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers for sustained periods of time, ability to see and read PC screens, detect color coding, read fine print and normal size print.
