Burns & McDonnell Pursuit Strategy Manager / Section Manager (Kansas City, MO) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

The Pursuit Strategy Manager is responsible for leading and managing the pursuit process for 1898 & Co. This position will lead the strategic direction of the team and will collaborate with numerous stakeholders including marketing, business development, business lines and regional offices.

  • Pursuit strategy activities to include: develop and refine pursuit process and templates, conduct go/no-go meetings, manage pursuit team deadlines and workload, update CRM opportunity details, and manage proposal process.

  • Client experience activities to include: develop annual conference strategy, execute sponsorships and booth logistics, coordinate abstract submissions and conference presentations, and coordinate client events and marketing lists.

  • Sales-related activities to include: support business planning, support presentation strategy, coordinate client relationship and account planning, develop sales colleteral and artificats, and develop value proposition.

  • Support and collaborate with corporate marketing, business lines, and other stakeholders in the creation, development, and coordination of thought leadership, brand awareness, public relations, industry publications, digital marketing, and social media marketing.

  • Use, promote, and become a CRM super-user for 1898 & Co.

  • Analyze current business development efforts for 1898 & Co. and make suggestions for improvement.

  • Establish strategic goals for group and collaborate with 1898 & Co. leadership for establishing organizational strategic goals.

  • Manage staff workload and productivity

  • Recruit, develop, and retain staff

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or related field.

  • Minimum 12 years in marketing, pursuit strategy, business development, or sales with a professional services firm. Experience at a business and technology or A/E firm preferred.

  • APMP certification, or equivalent, preferred.

  • Previous management experience is preferable.

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.

  • Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.

  • Extensive knowledge of the request for Information and Request for Proposal process in the business and technology industry, including previous experience developing and coordinating responses to RFPs.

  • Extensive knowledge of and previous experience preparing and coordination preparation of qualification submittals and proposal development in terms of deliverables, schedules, and the coordination of information resources to meet schedules.

  • Must be proficient in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Previous experience developing and delivering training presentations related to proposal communications, proposal strategies, business development and/or pursuit strategies.
