Burns & McDonnell Senior Environmental Scientist - Environmental Compliance (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri
Description
The Senior Environmental Scientist will lead and oversee conducting environmental assessments, supporting environmental compliance efforts, preparing permitting applications and analyzing environmental data for various types of projects, including power generation construction activities, oil & gas activities, renewable projects, industrial sites and water treatment facilities.
Strong regulatory and technical understanding of construction compliance, facility and corporate-level environmental permitting and compliance auditing
Experience taking the lead role and acting as a Project Manager for the following:
EHS multi-media compliance auditing
Develop and review Spill Prevention Control & Countermesure (SPCC) Plans
Develop and Review Faciltiy Response Plans (FRP)
Develop, review and inspection of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) Operational and Construction
Hazardous waste management (RCRA)
Federal and State EPCRA reporting and facility-level training
Understanding of enviornmental and non-enviornmental permitting for construction projects
Building, establishing and maintaining client relationships
Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Water Quality, Geology, Biology, Soil Science, Environmental Engineering or a related natural science degree from an accredited program required.
At least 8 years of experience working in the environmental consulting field.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.
Experience overseeing environmental site assessment methods.
Experience overseeing environmental compliance and compliance audits.
Experience overseeing environmental permitting process.
Working knowledge of ArcGIS.
Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
