Burns & McDonnell is seeking to hire a Senior Fire Protection Engineer for our Oil, Gas & Chemical global practice in our Kansas City, MO office! The Senior Fire Protection Engineer will lead the design work on heavy industrial projects in the Oil, Gas, and Chemical fields. This person will be responsible for leading the preparation of comprehensive fire protection packages including fire suppression, fire alarm, smoke management, and life safety.

What you will do:

  • Develop the scope and budget for Fire Protection work associated with Heavy Industrial Projects in the Oil, Gas, and Chemicals fields.

  • Scope of work in early conceptual stages with visits to jobsites and meetings with plant responsible engineers.

  • Develop the project design basis as it relates to the site and working with other disciplines as required for additional alarms and controls requirements.

  • Work with a multi-discipline engineering and design team to develop the associated calculations, data sheets, drawings, and procurement documents to provide a complete engineered package.

  • Support construction through start-up and commissioning activities (from assigned office location - site visits as required).

  • Responsible as the Sealing Engineer for assigned projects.

  • Mentor and train less experienced engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from accredited program.

  • Must be a registered Fire Protection Engineer.

  • Minimum 7 years related professional experience in Fire Protection Engineering with an emphasis on Heavy Industrial projects including FEED phase conceptualization through Detail Design and Construction.

  • Previous leadership and/or management experience is preferable.

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.

  • Must be expert in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
