Burns & McDonnell Transmission and Distribution Practice is seeking an experienced Private 4G/5G Solution Architect to provide Application/Technology Architecture Solutions and Services to our critical infrastructure utility clients. The selected candidate will join Private LTE Business Line, which is focused on providing our clients a variety of Consulting Services, Offerings, Capabilities, and Strategies delivering high value to our clients through a variety of leading 3GPP based technologies and practice disciplines.

The Private 4G/5G Solution Architect shall possess strong application and general technology, data analytical, middleware practices, data modeling methodologies, and general technical skills to work with our clients to design and implement core and RAN solutions. They must have strong project execution capabilities, possess strong leadership and collaboration capabilities, excellent communication skills, be focused on continuous improvement and enterprise Innovation, and have strong attention to detail while delivering high-quality work to our clients. The Private 4G/5G Solution Architect is responsible for providing strategic guidance, systems and technology assessments, road mapping, research, planning, and best practices to our client’s executive leaders to make investment decisions that align with the long-term vision of the organization.

This position will lead and execute a variety of solutions-related work for Burns & McDonnell clients. The position will lead efforts to identify and deliver architecture services that support Solutions to our clients with a strong emphasis on teamwork, customer commitment, industry best practices, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing input to High Level System Design Architecture across 4G/5G Voice and Data Core

  • Able to validate and create EPC architecture and system/solution requirements, network impact assessment, standards, and alarms and network statistics definition.

  • Assist the development, testing, and implementation of advance data core features such as LTE Mobility Management, Mobility Anchor Handoff, EPC Signaling and Control, Topography Design Support, Roaming Architecture/Design, and IPv4 and IPv6 Core Development.

  • Assist in defining engineering and planning rules for the MME (Mobility Management Entity), SGW (Serving Gateway), and the PGW (PDN Gateway).

  • An in-depth knowledge of 5G cloud core and service-based architecture including network slicing, containerized microservice based cloud architecture, and control /user plane separation. The architect is also responsible for the solution lifecycle projections.

  • Able to conduct spectrum and technology assessments assisting our clients with creating technology roadmaps that address their key business and technology drivers.

  • Apply industry experience and best practices to architect, design, develop, and implement LTE Network , Enterprise Data, Application, and Integration Architecture solutions to support complex business requirements.

  • Consult with customers on ways to implement and leverage Private LTE modeling methodologies within projects and environments supporting the enterprise solutions.

  • Serve as the Private 4G/5G Solution Architect specialist to create Enterprise Application, Integration, and Data Strategies for our clients that clearly communicate industry best practices supporting our client’s business, commercial and technology objectives.

  • Apply knowledge and expertise of technology architectures, integration technologies, and data practices to develop and deliver quality Enterprise solutions in both Information Technology (IT) and Operations Technology (OT) domains to meet client objectives.

  • Serve as Private 4G/5G Architecture Specialist or Solution Architect on projects executed for Electric Transmission/Distribution/Generation/Telecom, Municipal Government, Airport and Facilities industries.

  • Meet and work with Burns & McDonnell’s business analysts and clients to translate business requirements into Enterprise Application/Technology solutions and services.

  • Assist with preparation of solution proposals including the development of technical specifications, technical approach, team qualifications, cost estimates, and schedules in response to client requests for proposals.

  • Actively participate in Enterprise Architecture and Private 4G/5G-related technical committees and professional organizations to promote and expand Burns & McDonnell’s architecture capabilities, experience, and solutions providing thought leadership.

  • Ability to lead our clients through high-level Enterprise journey discussions and discovery strategies pertaining to the electric utility industry focusing on IT and OT Applications and Technologies utilizing public and private cloud services.

  • Identify, write, and present Private 4G/5G Architecture strategies and technical papers, white papers, and presentations.

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance and leadership to junior staff members.

  • Responsible for participating in and leading the solution architecture portion of sales pursuits and proposal development.

  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, Information Technology or closely related field is preferred; Equivalent work experience will be substituted. Minimum of 8 years of relevant 3GPP technology experience.

  • Experience providing Architecture Strategies, Enterprise Integration solutions, and services leveraging various applications and technical platforms.

  • Experience with open-source tools and standards based platforms.

  • Excellent Enterprise Architecture and Integration skills, including data architecture, integration architecture, middleware, and other architectural methods and practices.

  • Have led or participated in a minimum of 3 large-scale Enterprise Transformation projects using industry Enterprise strategy solutions.

  • Strong ability to influence or lead project execution.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experiencing with leading-edge cloud technology platforms and commercial communications technologies.

  • Experiencing with a variety of project execution.
