Facility Engineering Services, a Burns & McDonnell company, is looking for an Electrical Engineer to create world-class designs for new projects, facility alterations and modifications and Capital Equipment installs on a variety of projects in government manufacturing facilities. The Staff Electrical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction of projects, adapting mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.

The Electrical Engineer will be involved in a variety of unique design projects in a state-of-the art LEED-certified manufacturing facility, including capital equipment installations, low-voltage fire alarm systems, building infrastructure modifications, maintenance troubleshooting and utility configuration management.

Responsibilities:

  • Design facility electrical systems and subsystems including power distribution systems, voice/data, generators, UPS, security systems, fire alarm, and medium voltage interior/exterior systems.

  • Complete electrical capital, equipment installation and utility projects.

  • Implement energy conservation and energy optimization strategies and solutions.

  • Serve as utility engineer on chillers, air handling systems, substation (high voltage) and electrical distribution systems.

  • Apply strong knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry.

  • Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers.

  • Conduct field work throughout the facility to support design and construction.

  • Interact with a variety of groups and people throughout the facility and regularly interface with the building owner.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Security Clearance.

  • Minimum 3 years of electrical design experience for complex projects, industrial/manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience.

  • Successful completion (i.e. passing) FE or EIT preferred.

  • Low-voltage electrical experience is very helpful and is preferred.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in facility electrical design and ability to lead electrical design projects.

  • Ability to orchestrate meetings with client and upper management.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs and other analysis programs.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, includingadaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.

This is a full-time position working at the National Security Campus facility in Kansas City, MO.
