Burns & McDonnell Staff Geologist - Environmental Services (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri
Description
The Staff Geologist will perform a variety of environmental based tasks as required by the project including federal, state, local, and commercial clients. This position is responsible for field sampling, investigations, and report writing.
Perform field related activities including logging soils, air monitoring during investigation and remediation activities, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, collection of soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis, and collection of soil for physical testing.
Assess and present soil and groundwater data, developing soil and groundwater sampling plans, data compilation for soil, air and groundwater analytical results.
Compile and present proposal and report writing for environmental based findings.
Manage schedules and subcontractors for field investigation activities and assisting with site remediation planning and implementation.
Perform laboratory analysis that is appropriate to the proper identification and evaluation of field samples such as, water, soil, and bedrock.
Oversee on-site field monitoring to document compliance with various federal, state, and local permit requirements during project construction.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Geology or related Environmental degree and 4 years of experience required.
Previous consulting experience, including hazardous site assessment experience, such as Phase I, Phase II, and remediation is plus.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
Proficient in ArcGIS, RockWare, and Adobe Illustrator preferred.
Expert knowledge of the Unified Soil Classification System, glacial deposits, hydrogeology and groundwater sampling.
Expert knowledge of OSHA and CERCLA understanding in remedial design.
Must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
Valid driver's license required.
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred.
