Description
Our Transmission & Distribution global practice is looking for a Geographical Information System (GIS) Specialist in our Kansas City office to serve as a technical lead for GIS system architecture, development, deployment, and support. The GIS Specialist will be responsible for the design and technical oversight of off/on premise and web-based deployments of ESRI ArcGIS Pro. Major responsibilities for the GIS Specialist will include:
Design/Setup/Configure ESRI ArcGIS (Map & Pro) environments for both internal and external clients. Architecture deployments will include on premise, off premise, and web-based deployments.
Typical GIS tasks may include:
Administration of SQL database. User rights and privileges.
Creation/management of GIS features, domains, attributes, and symbology.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with GIS deployments and user experiences.
Exploring and creating innovative ways GIS can be implemented for different client needs/use cases.
Assist project a variety of project teams and effectively communicate lessons learned and potential improvements.
Execute complex assignments requiring the use of advanced tools and techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods.
Identify, communicate and resolve issues on projects as needed.
Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members.
Work with the project manager to establish project schedule and lead the engineering team to meet deadlines.
Work closely with the project team to ensure deliverables and services are being provided to client’s satisfaction and that projects are following internal QA/QC guidelines.
Perform design quality reviews.
Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel to develop relationships with key client points of contact.
Prepare proposals and assist in presentations.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
At least a two-year degree in Engineering/Geology/Drafting or related fields.
Must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience on GIS software.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must be capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
Must work well is a team environment leveraging a variety of different skillsets effectively.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Geology/Drafting or related degrees from an accredited program.
Strong aptitude/experience with software configuration and implementation.
Experience or fundamental understanding of database design (SQL/Access), ETL (extract/transform/load), data storage, and data manipulation preferred.
Experience with python or other programming languages.
Experience with hierarchy/layer-based software (OSI PI, Archestra, 3DSMax, Photoshop, etc)
Experience with 2D/3D drafting software (CAD, 3ds Max, Inventor, etc)
