Burns & McDonnell Staff Pipeline Integrity Engineer – Transmission & Distribution (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri
Description
Position will be responsible for the execution of pipeline integrity engineering, assessment, and consulting services for clients across the US. Main responsibilities include performing pipeline integrity analysis and assessments. Projects range in size and complexity from small utility distribution integrity programs to large transmission integrity assessment projects. This position can influence the growth and success of the Pipelines group. Opportunities to advance into leadership roles are available.
Position may include full or partial responsibility of the following assignments:
Execution of pipeline integrity engineering and assessment activities
Analysis and improvements to Integrity Management Plans for Transmission (TIMP) and Distribution (DIMP) and associated risk models
Investigation of pipeline records and data to determine critical material properties required to confirm the MAOP of pipeline segments
Hydrostatic testing of pipeline segments for newly constructed or legacy pipelines including test planning, permitting, contractor coordination, test oversight and final documentation
Perform direct assessments of pipeline segments for external corrosion (ECDA) and internal corrosion (ICDA) with various survey methods including Close Internal Survey (CIS) and AC/DC Voltage Gradient
Perform various Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods on pipelines and make recommendations for remediation and repairs of anomalies and defects
Project support for In-Line Inspection (ILI) assessments including ILI capability studies, launcher/receiver design and installation, execution plans, coordination with ILI tool contractor, data analysis and anomaly ranking/field assessment
Calculations and recommendations for studies and reports
Vendor and equipment specifications for assessment testing
Assist in preparation of proposals and scope development, including
Conceptual services and execution plans
Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules
Assist in coordination of integrity activities with other disciplines (Pipeline & Facilities, Environmental, IT, Real Estate, etc.) and subcontractors
Develop and improve processes, procedures, and maintenance of testing equipment
Provide leadership, training and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members
Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel
Provide field support during field assessments and testing
Support business development and marketing initiatives

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program
Minimum of 3 years related experience (completion of master’s degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience)
Successful completion of FE or EIT exam strongly preferred
Proficiency with 49 CFR Part 192 and ASME B31.8S and B31G. Preference for familiarity with 49 CFR Part 195 and ASME B31.4
