The Staff Electrical Engineer will work on project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of projects including process, corporate, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, microgrids, government and military facilities. The Staff Electrical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting electrical plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.

SUMMARY:

Involves the design, planning and client coordination activities associated with typical electrical distribution and control systems found in aviation, federal, and military facilities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Designs electrical systems/equipment to provide a useful and safe workplace.

  • Advises clients regarding electrical systems/requirements available to meet their needs and comply with safety codes.

  • Monitors installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety codes.

  • Conducts fault studies and load flow analysis. Develop design criteria for protective device coordination, relay applications, medium voltage transformers, switchgear, medium and low voltage distribution.

  • Able to develop and/or lead the design of electrical master plans for facilities encompassing but not limited to the following: reliable power distribution, motor control centers, energy efficient lighting systems, communications and data, instrumentation and controls for HVAC systems, fire-alarm interface, adjustable speed drives, uninterrupted power systems (UPS) systems, emergency generators.

  • Reviews electrical designs and specifications of equipment or systems being purchased or fabricated.

  • Provides electrical design direction and resource management on multi-discipline projects

  • Developing concept studies and design

  • Enforces standards and practices.

  • Participate in the Identification, recruiting and management of resources to meet the needs of the business

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.

  • Or Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience.

  • 3 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred.

  • Successful completion (i.e.passing) FE or EIT preferred.

  • Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.

  • Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.

  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)

  • Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, MicroStation, 2D and 3D rendering programs and other analysis programs.

  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
