Burns & McDonnell Assistant Project Manager - Fire Protection (Minneapolis) in Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota

Description

The Fire Protection Assistant Project Manager (APM) will assist project managers on a variety of projects of varying complexity, and/or will manage some smaller and less complex projects on their own. This position will manage and act as a coordinator and project liaison to the client, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders, throughout the project. The APM will maintain document control, manage databases and coordinate and track project activities and communications to ensure project goals are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe and budget parameters.

  • Assist in growing relationships and market share in the fire protection segment.

  • Assist the Project Management team to administer request for proposal (RFP) package development, bid and selection process, and develop detailed scope of work documents for downstream contracts.

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, communicating and facilitate activities of several disciplines on multiple projects from concept through completion.

  • Develop and maintain client and partner relationships through building trust and providing high levels of service.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and partners.

  • Manage and perform project delivery, including scoping, budgeting, maintaining schedules, meeting budget objectives, communicating and meeting deadlines.

  • Promote safe work environments.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related degree from accredited program.

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Experience in Fire Protection preferred.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Customer-focused with good relationship-building and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Ability to make thoughtful, informative and persuasive presentations to clients.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, demanding work environment, ability to work overtime on short notice, and represent Burns & McDonnell in a professional, competent manner.

  • High proficiency using Microsoft Office.

  • Professional registration (PE) or industry-related certifications (NICET) preferred.
