Burns & McDonnell Staff Fueling Electrical Engineer - Aviation & Federal (Minneapolis) in Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota

Do you have the skills and motivation to make your place on an engineering team in a rapidly growing military and commercial fuels market? Burns & McDonnell is seeking lead electrical engineers with experience in fuels, industrial or process industries to lead and execute electrical / instrumentation designs on projects ranging from small studies to large design-build projects.

This position requires a self-starter with a strong, proactive work ethic. You will be responsible for executing the overall E&I design process and preparation of contract drawings and specifications while working with multidisciplinary project teams for military and commercial clients. Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members. In the course of these project assignments, you will meet and build relationships with clients or outside personnel in the office and in field settings.

Applicable experience includes, but is not limited to:

  • Bulk and operating fuel storage facilities

  • Truck, refueler, aviation and marine loading and offloading

  • NFPA and API hazardous area classification

  • Experience in P&ID development and review

  • Define Sequence of Operations for PLC programming

  • General facility support – power distribution, voice/data, fiber optics, generators, security, CCTV, fire, alarm, lighting, wiring, raceway, grounding, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program. Must have at least 3 years of related experience.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.

  • Candidate should be capable of assisting clients with planning E&I aspects of projects.

  • Must also have the ability to determine project scope, schedule, and budget. Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.

  • Knowledge of Revit preferred.

  • Knowledge of plant design software (Plant3D) is preferred. Experience in fueling or similar markets preferred.

  • Professional Engineer preferred.
