Burns & McDonnell Civil - Environmental Design Engineer - ENS in Mumbai, India

Description

Burns & McDonnell India (BMI) Environmental Division is looking for a well-rounded and driven civil engineer in the Mumbai Office to support our teams in the US. The engineer will work on an integrated team within our Environment Global Practice to perform/assist on a wide range of projects. Since ENS is in the process of building the team, the engineer will work on a wide range of projects, communicate with clients, understand their needs and help successfully execute projects.

  • Responsible for the Civil design at landfill site, pipelines, WTP and WWTP facilities using Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3d, Autodesk AutoCAD.

  • Plan and develop detailed design for site layout, site grading, utility, erosion and sediment control, storm drainage, SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan), ash landfill, and other civil-related components, as well as underground coordination with other disciplines and permitting support.

  • Learn and successfully apply company, client, and project drafting standards and procedures.

  • Demonstrate ability to apply formulas, principles, and practices to complete required drawings.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of assigned and related disciplines.

  • Provide a range of drawing production work including site layouts, erosion control, grading plans, grading sections, road & rail profiles, stormwater, and details.

  • Should read and understand and apply the local municipal standards and design manuals to deliver the projects at any stage.

  • Use other supporting software including Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, Office 365, Google Earth Pro.

  • Use 3D CAD software to generate surfaces, road alignments, pipe networks, cut & fill quantities, corridors, manage styles, and template development.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of CAD standards and best practices.

  • Coordinate drafting activities with other designers, drafters, and design disciplines.

  • Successfully communicate and correspond with internal design resources and external clients and personnel.

  • Execute design changes and project drawing revisions.

  • Maintain CAD proficiency and work toward mastering current CAD systems.

  • Travel to the United States as required and requested to support assignments on projects and overall office needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil (general) engineering with a minimum of 3 years related experience or bachelor’s degree in drafting technology with a minimum of 5 years related experience or Diploma in civil engineering with a minimum of 5 years solid experience.

  • Demonstrated 5 or more years of experience in leading an engineering design project/team through all phases of project designs

  • Knowledge on land development, site development and master development project working experience from preliminary stage to detail design stage.

  • US project experience and local municipal or city standards knowledge is essential experience in another region will be beneficial.

  • Ability to work independently and use design and drafting tool such as AutoCAD Civil 3d 2019 and AutoCAD 2019.

  • Knowledge and prior work experience on Bentley MicroStation and openRoads software are beneficial.

  • Intermediate working knowledge in Navisworks manage will be burnouse.

  • Good knowledge in civil design, calculations and design systems.

  • Should be able work with minimal supervision and able to deliver the projects on time with proper QA and QC procedures.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers both in Mumbai and Counter Part professionals) in a multi-discipline project team environment.

  • Ability to work on tight deadlines, good time management skills are essential.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
