Description

Looking for a Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager to join our growing project site office in Albuquerque New Mexico, to manage substation design projects, ranging from 12-kV to 500-kV. An entrepreneurial spirit and strong leadership abilities are a must!

The Project Manager will manage, direct and coordinate all aspects of work related to brownfield projects at substations, switching stations and/or renewable interconnections. The Project Manager will report directly to the Senior Program Manager and is responsible for the profit and loss of individual projects, the successful completion of projects within specified dates, and establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with the Owner, subcontractors, regulatory agencies and other project stakeholders.

Major responsibilities for the Project Manager will include:

  • Provide overall management of projects from concept to completion including siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, bid phase services, procurement, constructability reviews, material management, construction management, and closeout.

  • Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs.

  • Serve as primary point of contact with client regarding efforts such as client coordination, strategic planning, master scope management, budget finances, subcontracting, project staffing, environmental compliance, facility support and schedule attainment.

  • Adhere to Burns & McDonnell's safety programs, training, and policies as well as collaborate with the project team to manage the Safety & Health performance of project team members, contractors, and others as required.

  • Collaborate with the Project Management team to build client relationships while interfacing with the client for proposal and project related items.

  • Develop the project plan for site mobilization and demobilization and support the Construction Manager or Site Manager with implementation.

  • Secure applicable project permits required for the project.

  • Support development of and coordinate the potential bidders' registration and pre-qualification efforts on behalf of the Project team.

  • Prepare Request for Proposal (RFP), support detailed scope of work development, bid and selection process and creation of contract documents for the purpose of subcontractor and client contractor selection and award.

  • Support the implementation of multiple project specifications, drawing releases, and design changes.

  • Execute downstream contract administration, including Request for Information (RFI), submittals, meeting minutes, change management, and claims mitigation.

  • Support project cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structures, project set-up and closeout, and field progress tracking processes.

  • Prepare information for and report project status, risks, schedule, costs, and cash flows at project and corporate level meetings to internal and external stakeholders. Develop and distribute meeting minutes as needed.

  • Support the Prime Contract, subcontract, client contractor, and supplier invoicing process.

  • Establish, review, and implement the project documentation and filing systems and processes.

  • Verify the project, client contractor, and/or subcontractor's insurance, licensures, taxes/duties, and securities are in effect according to the project requirements.

  • Support and conduct project safety, quality, progress and financial audits and assessments as required.

  • Facilitate the materials receiving and management process including inventory control, receiving of goods, storage, and transportation.

  • Collaborate with superintendents and site managers to verify compliance of subcontractors' and client contractors' contract documents, safety & health requirements, quality, and schedule.

  • Facilitate the project turnover documentation, recordkeeping/retention, warranty and project close out processes.

  • Assist with maintaining compliance on all project related activities by consistently applying company policies and procedures.

  • Report regularly on progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, design questions, potential impacts, and any issues requiring office support.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited curriculum.

  • Minimum of 7 years of high voltage substation physical and P&C project experience with at least 3 years related project management experience.

  • Professional Engineering (PE) registration preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus but not mandatory.

  • Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government and public contracts on project-related matters.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to travel. Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
