Description
Burns & McDonnell is seeking to hire a Staff Mechanical Engineer with mining experience within our Energy Global Practice in our Phoenix, AZ regional office!
Responsibilities:
Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates work related to mining requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Performs work that involves conventional engineering practices but may involve a variety of complex features.
Requires general knowledge of precedents in mining systems and familiarity with a wide variety of principles and practices related to mining.
May coordinate departmental and divisional project studies and report preparation assignments.
This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering may be substituted for 1-year experience.
3 years of mechanical engineering experience, mining-related work preferred.
This position requires a competent individual experienced in photovoltaic power systems and AC distribution and collection systems.
Knowledge and field experience in pumping system design and hydraulic analysis or material handling is preferred.
Must work well in a team environment, be able to travel, and perform physically challenging fieldwork.
