Burns & McDonnell Staff Pipeline Engineer - Transmission & Distribution (Multiple Locations) in Raleigh, North Carolina
Description
The Staff Pipeline Engineer will be responsible for performing pipeline engineering and consulting services for clients across the US. Main responsibilities include working with the design team to create pipeline design deliverables. Projects range in size and complexity from small utility distribution upgrades to large transmission projects. This position can influence the growth and success of the Pipelines group. Opportunities to advance into leadership roles are available.
Staff Pipeline Engineer may include full or partial responsibility of the following assignments:
Execution of engineering activities
Pipeline design including plans, profiles, details and associated bill of materials
Pipeline facility design (metering and regulating stations, storage field upgrades, and compressor stations) including plans, sections, and details and associated bill of materials
Coordination to obtain survey, geotechnical investigations, permitting, land acquisition.
Calculations for studies and reports
Material and equipment specifications for procurement and/or factory acceptance testing
Assist in preparation of proposals and scope development, including
Conceptual designs and execution plans
Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules
Assist with coordination of design activities with other disciplines (Pipeline Facilities, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control, etc.)
Develop and improve processes, tools and/or factory acceptance testing
Provide leadership, training and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members
Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel
Provide short term field support during construction
Support business development and marketing initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program
Minimum of 3 years of related experience (completion of master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience)
Successful completion of FE or EIT exam is strongly preferred
Proficiency with 49 CFR Part 192 and ASME B31.8. Preference for familiarity with 49 CFR Part 195 and ASME B31.4

Capability of solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures, and criteria
