Burns & McDonnell has an exciting opportunity for a Department Manager to help lead operations for the Global Facilities practice in San Francisco, CA along with the Regional Global Practice Manager. Burns & McDonnell is one of the most fast paced, innovative companies for high tech building design and construction. Project focus will be mission-critical data center projects and this manager will collaborate with the national mission-critical practice. This role is responsible for helping drive growth and profitability for all aspects of the GFS team specializing in data centers or a variety of other global facility projects including mission critical, healthcare, commercial, or higher education.
Works with in-house architectural and multi-discipline team.
Implements best practices related to current market trends in commercial facilities.
Identifies and leads pursuits, directs implementation, guides operations and is responsible for achieving sales, revenue, and income goals.
Plans, coordinates, and facilitates activities for growing multi-discipline team including architects and engineers for projects of all sizes from concepts through construction completion.
Communicating and managing deadlines and establishing and performing to critical project objectives.
Recruits, hires, develops, and retains outstanding employee-owners.
Ensures quality and safety standards.
Adheres to Burns & McDonnell Quality Control program.
Responsible for maintaining Burns & McDonnell Safety program.
Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or related field from an accredited curriculum.
Minimum 7 years related experience (completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience), including 3 years or more project management experience related to the mission critical, healthcare, commercial or institutional facility industries.
Previous experience in management and leading direct reports preferred.
Experience should include successful management of projects, which would include proposal development, contract negotiations, project planning, design team coordination & communication, budgeting, schedule management, and client coordination.
Consulting experience preferred.
Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of government, industry, and public contracts on project-related matters.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills and ability to process and manage project budgets and financial data.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Professional Registration preferred.
