Burns & McDonnell Product Manager - Transmission & Distribution (Toronto, Canada) in Toronto, Ontario
The Product Manager is responsible for managing the department for the assigned software. This includes strategic product planning and marketing, managing product deliverables, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with the engineering team to deliver winning product solutions. The Product Manager will work with the management team, sales, marketing and support personnel to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are attained and product and marketing efforts support Burns & McDonnell’s overall strategy and goals. Additionally, this position will support the local organization to which it is assigned with responsibilities in the management of personnel, business development, client relationships and project/program management.
Define and present for approval the product strategy and roadmap.
Develop technical requirements for products by working with stakeholders (both internal and external) as needed, ensuring that stakeholder and market needs are attained.
Work with technical teams to develop and refine the product technical parameters to ensure successful product solutions are delivered.
Evaluate external partnerships, marketing, sales, and licensing opportunities.
Provide technical and industry expertise with respect to the competition.
Develop and present the core positioning and messaging for the product marketing.
Compile and present business plan to secure internal and external financing within established risk and financial parameters.
Perform product demonstrations to customers in a variety of settings.
Research, propose, and set product pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals.
Compile and present monthly financial information including sales and revenue forecasts.
Develop and implement sales tools and collateral.
Propose and adhere to an overall budget to ensure financial success of products.
Develop and present sales briefings and training programs for quarterly sales meetings.
Support the product after-sales, including warranty and maintenance programs.
Present at industry conferences.
Develop and implement product tracking metrics and tools to evaluate product performance.
Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to the department.
Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.
Manage sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits.
Manage the activities and productivity of departments and office staff.
Provide training, guidance, and general direction to staff.
Execute short & long-term strategic plans.
Establish and develop outstanding client relationships and ensure overall client satisfaction.
Support sales and marketing activities in the region.
Monitor markets to evaluate potential within each market area and identify future market areas for Burns & McDonnell within the region.
Assist in efforts for submittals, proposals, presentations, contract negotiation, and related activities.
Assist in the establishment and achievement of stated targets and standards for financial performance, revenue, billable time, sales and net income.
All other duties, as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, environmental science, business or related degree from an accredited program.
Minimum of 7 years relevant consulting experience, preferably in the transmission and distribution industry.
MBA or ability to achieve preferred.
Expert experience in investigating, evaluating, selecting, and driving the development of products for an organization.
Strong facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Proven experience having led and completed projects from business proposal through post-production support preferred.
Demonstrated success as to budget, savings and/or profit margins in completed projects.
Ability to filter and distill relevant information and convey business and technical concepts to a diverse client base and internal technical teams.
Excellent planning and analytical skills.
Broad knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of Microsoft Project or equivalent.
Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to clearly and effectively present complex information.
