Ready to join our expanding team of talented electrical engineers? Our Municipal Water and Wastewater team is growing its footprint in the Midwest and across the nation and seeking to add a Senior Electrical Engineer. We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to lead design efforts for treatment plant expansions, pump station rehabilitation, greenfield projects, electrical equipment replacements, and SCADA upgrade projects. The engineer in this role will work with project managers, designers, drafters, junior electrical engineers, estimators, and other engineering disciplines to ensure that project quality, budget, and schedule are met. This role also offers career growth opportunities for leading electrical and/or I&C-specific projects as well as participating in projects utilizing the design-build delivery method.

  • The Senior Electrical Engineer designs and specifies electrical systems associated with municipal drinking and wastewater pumping facilities and treatment plants.

  • Electrical systems include low and medium-voltage power, lighting, SCADA and process controls, voice/data networking, fiber optics, emergency power systems, UPS, security systems, CCTV, and fire alarm.

  • Lead and assist in the execution of complex projects requiring the use of advanced techniques for the preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and studies from inception to completion.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplined teams across multiple office locations.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Experience in the following areas of project design is considered valuable to our team:

  • Low and Medium Voltage Electrical Design.

  • SCADA System Network Design.

  • Generator sizing and specification.

  • Plan and specification preparation for water and wastewater treatment plants.

  • Motor control and preparation of schematic diagrams.

  • Electrical equipment layouts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.

  • OR Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering a plus and may be substituted for one year of experience.

  • Seven years of electrical engineering experience is required. Eight years of related experience in designing electrical systems on EPC projects preferred.

  • Experience in designing and executing municipal water/wastewater treatment facilities via design-bid-build, design-build, or other alternative delivery methods is a plus.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, REVIT and other software packages, including SKM or ETAP is desired.

  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), 70E, and 820 preferred.

  • Applicable design experience could include power systems studies (load flow and short circuit analysis, coordination and arc flash studies), lighting systems, and network design for municipal and government facilities.

  • Professional Engineering License (PE) is not required; however, must be on a path to obtain licensure.

  • Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards. Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.

  • This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to a broad area of assignments.

  • Must be capable of devising new approaches to solve complex problems. Previous experience with similar consulting firms is preferred.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.

  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.

  • Ability to travel.
