The Staff Building Automation Engineer will participate on both multi-disciplinary and controls-specific engineering teams to develop and review Building Automation Engineering design packages, perform calculations and develop engineering solutions in support of capital and retrofit projects in a variety of locations. Work duties can consist of any of the following depending on client, project, and consultant role:

  • Assists in development of design drawings and specifications for design of primarily HVAC control systems and EPMS, for both PLC-based systems and DDC-based systems (System is client-specific)

  • Coordinate with mechanical and electrical design teams to develop Sequences of Operations and Point Lists for HVAC control and electrical monitoring of equipment and systems

  • Create engineering drawings for control panel and field wiring designs including installation details, bill of material, and P&IDs

  • Manage quality reviews of project submittals.

  • Evaluate technical bids and managing vendor and subconsultant contracts

  • Review and approving of vendor and subconsultant drawings, including Sequences of Operation, Points Lists, Engineering Drawings, Bill of Materials, Graphics, and Test Scripts

  • Participate in Software Bench Tests, Software Factory Acceptance Tests, and Equipment Factory Witness Tests

  • Provide technical assistance during commissioning at project site.

  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.

  • Facilitate multi-consultant and Owner meetings for design changes and implementation

  • Lead production of engineering drawings using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD Electrical, or ePlan

  • Supports RFI responses and associated work plans

  • Ensures adherence to client and industry standards and applies client or industry standards, guidelines, specifications, practices and procedures in preparing designs.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering from an ABET accredited program

  • Master of Science degree in above Engineering programs or related may be substituted for 1 year experience.

  • PE license preferred in Mechanical or Instrumentation & Controls

  • Minimum 2 years of either Building Automation System (BAS) or mechanical HVAC engineering experience

  • Ability to interface, mentor and collaborate effectively with your team members

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team

  • Strong organization, delegation, presentation and communication (both written and verbal) skills

  • Proficient with business and engineering applications.

  • Proficent in Microsoft Office

  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit and drawing production from Revit is preferred
