The Senior Business Architect will translate strategy and business needs into complete, coordinated business models, perform analysis and assessment of business processes and business capabilities, evaluate alternate design options, and make recommendations for change based on various frameworks and methodologies. The role will also be responsible for supporting the development and maturation of the Business Architecture practice.

The Senior Business Architect will work closely with Transformation Directors and cross-functional teams to drive business transformation and optimization within the newly formed Enterprise Transformation Office (EXO). The mission of the EXO is to identify and implement strategies that empower the entire enterprise to perpetually scale, innovate and thrive as “One Burns & Mac” in our next 125 years.

The first digital transformation the Business Architecture team will support is a multi-year, $150M initiative known as Blue Horizon. This initiative will drive the replacement of our existing ERP and adjacent solutions with a comprehensive, end-to-end, enterprise management solution that is potentially inclusive of composable ERP (enterprise resource planning), CRM (customer resource management), BMS (business management system) and other technologies. The transformation will result in a simplified application landscape with modernized business processes. While depth of scope continues to be refined, the breadth will be enterprise-wide benefiting more than 15,000 people, 80 offices on three continents, and 10 global practices that each have numerous business lines.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the development and maturation of business architecture and process management practice to drive enablement of long-term roadmap.

  • Lead business process analysis and business need assessments to identify opportunities to optimize business processes and value streams, drive innovation, and enhance competitiveness.

  • Develop new process designs to improve standardization, efficiency, and effectiveness.

  • Create process documentation, including business rules and decision models, and other supporting materials as needed.

  • Use various techniques including interviews, surveys, job shadowing, and workshops to discover, analyze and assess business processes and business capabilities.

  • Partner with stakeholders to conduct internal stakeholder analysis, industry best-practice analysis, and other analysis to inform decision making.

  • Monitor, measure, and provide feedback on process and capability maturity and performance.

  • Elicit and document business requirements for transformation initiatives ensuring alignment with the broader organization's goals and objectives.

  • Maintain the business architecture repository in accordance with business architecture and process management framework.

  • Collaborate with Program/Project Management, Enterprise Architecture, and technology teams to enable transformation initiatives.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders in rolling out changes to the business or various departments.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff.

  • Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.

  • Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Management Information Systems, Operations, or related field and 8 years of relevant experience required.

  • Excellent knowledge of business processes and process improvement with varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, enabling technologies, and governance.

  • Strong understanding of business architecture and enterprise architecture concepts.

  • Ability to drive and facilitate cross-functional collaboration to create strategies and plans which address business opportunities.

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.

  • Demonstrated experience modeling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques (e.g., BPMN, UML, Value Stream Mapping, etc.)

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and analytically.

  • Demonstrated strength in conflict management and negotiation.

  • Certification in a recognized business transformation, process management or architecture framework or willingness to seek additional learning.

  • Ability to visualize and create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature business architecture is preferred.

  • Ability to identify patterns and interdependencies to identify opportunities for reuse is preferred.

  • Familiarity with APQC Process Classification Framework or other process framework preferred.

  • Familiarity with the IIBA Business Analyst Body of Knowledge, ABPMP BPM Common Body of Knowledge, TOGAF, BA Guild and/or other relevant industry bodies preferred.

  • Familiarity with process mining tools, enterprise architecture tools, and/or process management tools preferred.

  • Prior experience as a Business Analyst working on software solutions (SaaS, Custom, ERP, etc.) preferred.
