Burns & McDonnell Senior Architectural Specialist - Aviation & Federal (Morristown, NJ) in Morristown, New Jersey

Description

The Senior Architectural Specialist will lead in the creation of world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of projects including corporate, healthcare, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government and military facilities. This position will lead initiatives to design structures that are functional, safe, sustainable and aesthetically pleasing for a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.

  • Reviews and approves detailed architectural drawings for steel and reinforced concrete structures using architectural specifications, calculations, sketches, detailed drawings, and design information according to project standards and procedures.

  • Leads the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting architectural plans according to budget constraints, environmental factors or client needs.

  • Mentor, coach and develop workers engaged in a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard architectural techniques for project assignments.

  • Monitors architectural project scope development and changes while tracking adjustments to the projected project construction cost.

  • Approves and recommends any needed modifications to detailed shop drawings for the architects final review.

  • Confirms specific products required by the project managers are utilized in the final design layout.

  • Analyzes and presents quantitative data for the purpose of explaining and interpreting architectural standards, codes or regulations to architects and engineers.

  • Presents design review packages for client review and approval.

  • Represents the company in client presentations.

  • Conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with detailed design documents.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff.

  • Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.

  • Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in architecture from an accredited program and 7 years related experience Required or

  • Associate Degree in a related field and 9 years related experience Required

  • Basic knowledge in the theory and practices of Architecture.

  • Basic software and computer skills required including AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs.

  • Knowledge in Microsoft Professional Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

Compensation Range

$115,000-145,000

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
